Open Access Solar provides power at a cheaper and predictable rate compared to conventional grid electricity. Pricing depends on the selected model (Captive or Group captive), regulatory charges, and PPA terms.
There are two primary models:
- Captive Open Access – The offtaker (consumer) invests in the solar power plant
- Group Opex Open Access – A Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) is formed with offtaker investing approx 8% of the project cost, while the rest comes from an investor. Off-taker then pays a fixed per unit charge to the investor for the term of the power purchase agreement.
In this model, the offtaker (consumer) invests and owns the power plant 100%.

In this model, a special purpose vehicle (SPV) is formed. Off-taker invests approx 8% of the project cost into the SPV, while a third-party investor invests the balance. . The offtaker purchases power at a fixed rate under a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) from the SPV.
