Agni Solar successfully executed a community-based solar irrigation project for a prominent NGO in Nashik district (Peint taluka), aimed at improving water security and agricultural productivity for small and marginal farmers in rain-fed regions.
Under this initiative, 17 numbers of 2 HP solar water pumps were strategically installed in rainwater harvesting ponds. These ponds store monsoon runoff, enabling farmers to access a reliable, renewable source of irrigation without dependence on grid electricity or diesel fuel. Each solar pump was engineered to serve three farmers, with irrigation water distributed through a carefully designed underground pipeline network.
Agni Solar ensured the system was optimized for efficient water use by integrating drip irrigation provisions, significantly reducing water wastage while supporting high-value vegetable cultivation such as tomato, chilli, and other seasonal crops. To further enhance farm productivity, Venturi fertigation systems were installed, allowing fertilizers to be applied uniformly through the irrigation lines, improving nutrient efficiency, crop health, and yields.
Execution Excellence & On-Ground Engineering
The project demanded site-specific engineering solutions due to challenging ground conditions. The Agni Solar team successfully addressed:
- Rocky terrain requiring customized excavation methods
- Restricted access for machinery and vehicles
- Remote installation locations with limited infrastructure
Through meticulous planning, adaptive execution strategies, and hands-on field coordination, Agni Solar completed the installations efficiently while maintaining high quality and system reliability.
Impact
By delivering assured irrigation, reducing water consumption, and lowering recurring input costs, the project is expected to:
- Increase crop yields and farm incomes
- Promote sustainable water management
- Strengthen long-term livelihoods
- Improve overall quality of life for the farming community
This project stands as a strong example of Agni Solar’s capability to execute complex, community-scale renewable energy solutions in rural and resource-constrained environments, delivering measurable social, economic, and environmental benefits.
